How Laser Hair Removal Works
Laser hair removal is quickly becoming the preferred method of choice for getting rid of unwanted, unsightly facial and body hair. Now, as an alternative to more painful options including electrolysis and waxing, it’s easier than ever before to find a beauty salon with experienced laser hair removal technicians available on staff.
In addition to being the least uncomfortable choice, laser hair removal can also be rather inexpensive in comparison to other professional methods used. This non-invasive method can be used on many areas of the body including the upper lip, chin, legs, arms, back, bikini line, or just about anywhere there is unwanted hair growth.
Imagine never needing to tweeze, wax, or shave again, or have to deal with those irritating razor bumps. Learning how laser hair removal works is the first step toward enjoying silky smooth skin that looks and feels its absolute best. (more…)

Laser hair removal is becoming an increasingly popular way to permanently reduce or remove unwanted body hair. Laser hair removal works by using a laser to target and destroy hair follicles. There are currently five types of laser hair removal methods. Consumers should be careful to choose a removal method that works best for their hair and skin types.
1. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
The IPL removal method is commonly used because it’s less painful and more versatile than other methods. The treatment can improve the skin’s condition and appearance since it was originally developed for that purpose. IPL lasers work by employing a full spectrum of light wavelengths instead of just one wavelength like other lasers. The drawback to using multiple wavelengths is that focusing the laser for hair removal is more difficult, and the laser may not penetrate hair follicles as deeply. There’s also an increased risk of negative side effects when administered by an inexperienced technician. However, the treatment is the least painful of all methods, and the laser can be safely adapted for use on all skin types and on most areas of the body.
Great for: all skin types, most hair colors, most body parts, fine to medium hair growth (more…)

There are many methods of body hair removal and even more reasons for wanting to eliminate unwanted hair. At least eighty percent of women and fifty percent of men use some hair removal technique. The main aspects to consider when choosing a hair removal method are expense, time involved, pain, results, side effects, length between treatments, and possible skin damage.
Different hair removal methods and their aspects:
- Tweezers are very cheap, painful and time-consuming. The hairs are plucked at the root level and can leave red bumps. Tweezing needs to be repeated every 3 to 8 weeks.
Epilators work the same as using hundreds of tweezers together, pulling out multiple hairs all at once. They should not be used on sensitive areas like the face, genitals or underarms.
- Shaving
A manual razor is also inexpensive. Side effects include ingrown hairs, redness, bumps, razor burn and nicks. Any damaged areas should not be shaved again until the skin heals.
Electric shavers are slightly more expensive, do not nick skin and cause less ingrown hairs than manual razors. Shaving must be done daily or at least every few days. (more…)
